SLEDDING
The cottage is about 1.7 km down the dead end road from the trail (MLSS #178) (which also runs across the lake in front of the cottage). The large main trail E109 is minutes away.
The cottage is centrally located near the town of Lake St. Peter with gas and food available there. There are many day loop trips possible from this area including trips to Whitney, Madawaska, Algonquin
and Bancroft. The winter trails are truly amazing and are meticulously maintained. The scenery of the area is exciting and beautiful.
There is good ice fishing right out front with perch, lake trout, rock bass and brown bullheads

Atving at the cottage is fun for all skill levels.
This is the Maple Leaf Snowskimmer trail #178 south towards Bancroft. This trail is located 1.7 km up the road from the cottage or straight accross the bay, 2 minute drive.
Crown land surrounds all of Mink Lake which means endless hasslefree riding for everyone. Please stay on the trails and dont litter. This is your land.
The kids would enjoy an afternoon skate before sitting by the fire.
There is good fishing in the "backwoods"
ATVing
We regret that we no longer allow any kind of dirtbikes/ trailbike type motorcycles
and also no longer allow atvs with two stroke engines. sorry for the inconvience
You have found the right spot for Atvs (freaking amazing, you wont believe it guaranteed). The main snowmobile trail system is about 10 percent of the available riding for atvs. you wont believe the other 90 % of unmapped trails to explore. The area is extensive crown land with forest access roads, old mining roads, old sled trails, old crown land hunt camps and trails, line cuts, MNR lake management type trails, brook trout lakes, bass lakes, splake lakes(bring your pack rods and dew worms). There is mud , hills, bush , rock , beaver ponds, etc etc. Or Camp in the wild for a night by a local lake or river.
i highly recommend a waterproof GPS for the type of riding you will be doing (a small brush chainsaw or bowsaw comes in handy too). There are limited maps of the secondary trails . Never ride alone in this area. There are a few good day loop trips possible including Lake St. Peter, Whitney,Maynooth Bancroft, , etc, etc....
Maynooth(35km) for beer store, hotel, gas, shops etc., Whitney(40km) for groceries, gas , bar? , beer. There are countless lakes and a few rivers , creeks to check out. Bass ,brookies, splake are in the backwoods waters and at our Mink lake there are lakers, bass, burbot, perch and the odd brookie. The cottage is right beside a secondary trail with some good water and mud bogging and also a bigger secondary trail that puts you on a main trail in 20 min. . You will not have to trailer your bikes anywhere once you are at the cottage. Just come out the back door and ride.
Please note almost all of the trails are not monitored , maintained or looked after except for the logging companies that are using a few of the bigger ones. You must use them at your own risk. Washouts are common and some are deep and dangerous. the nice thing is there are trails for everyone. you can ride with a 2x4 without a winch and just stay on the mains, or you can go hard core mudding with all the gear and a 4x4.

There are lots of scenic trails for the nature nut.
This is the Maple Leaf Snowskimmer trail #178 north towards Whitney. This trail is located at the north end of Mink Lake.
There is an amazing amount of umapped trails right out the cottage back door. So many in fact , we highly recommend a waterproof GPS .
The rugged beauty of a winter sunset can be seen right out front.
Fall is among the most popular seasons for ATVing mainly due to the awesome colours and general quietness.
The winter here is truly amazing. Sometimes the snowfall amounts reach an unbelievable 3 or 4 feet or more.
